Jesse Grow

Owner & Coach

Owner and Coach, Jesse Grow has over 18 years of coaching experience, working with athletes of all performance levels. He began his own swimming journey as an athlete on the Pasco Piranha summer team at age 9. He took over as the head coach for the Piranhas at age 17. Upon graduating from Pasco High School, Jesse attended Washington State University, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology specializing in strength & condition and sports performance. While at Washington State University Jesse worked for 5 seasons as the volunteer assistant coach for the University’s Division I Women’s Swim Program. In that time he had the privilege of helping train many high level athletes from around the world.

In 2014, a love for his family brought him back home to the Tri-Cites. Jesse spent 2 seasons as the assistant coach of the Hanford & Richland girls programs, helping coach the Richland girls to their first state championship title in program history. He has since taken over and been the head coach of the Hanford girls program for 10 years. Jesse just completed his 11th year as the head coach of both the Hanford and Richland boys programs, who have each seen great team successes under his leadership. Beyond high school coaching Jesse is on his 9th year as the head coach of the Tri-Cities Tidal Waves Special Olympics swim team.

In 2020 Jesse obtained his teaching certificate in Health & Physical Education from WSU-TC. He now spends everyday working with middle school students, trying to instill a passion for sports and exercise in the next generation. When he is not teaching or coaching, Jesse enjoys spending time with his dog, Otto.

Sydney Gilmour

Age Group Coach

Coach "Syd" has over 13 years of competitive swimming experience, starting at the age of 7 on the Tri-City Channel Cats. While growing up, her family moved around, so she has had the opportunity to swim on a variety of different teams around the country: Blue Waves Swim team, Voltage Aquatics, and eventually making her way back to the Channel Cats. Syd was a four years varsity athlete at Richland High School. During that time she competed at the Districts level all four years and at the State level twice. After high school Syd attended Grand Canyon University, where she participated on their club swim team. After a year in Arizona, she moved back to Tri-Cities and is attending Western Governors University pursuing a degree in Elementary and Special Education.

Syd began her coaching career in 2023 as the assistant coach for Southridge High School Girls Swim and Dive team. In that one year she helped lead the Suns to a 3rd place finish overall in the MCC, 2 State relays, and multiple State individual swims. While this may only be her second year coaching, she has strong background in teaching swim lessons to variety of ages and skill levels. Syd is very excited to continue to grow as a coach and pass on her love and passion for swimming!

Ashton Pollick

Head Coach

Coach Pollick, a 2014 Richland High alumni, began his swim career at an early age. He swam ten years at the club level with the Tri-City Channel Cats, four years with the Richland High Bombers and one year at Eastern Illinois University. While competing with the Bombers, Pollick was team captain, District Swimmer of the Year, 4-time District Champion in the 100 Backstroke, 3-time District Champion in the 200 IM, and 4-year State qualifier and finalist in both individual and relay events (placing 3rd overall in the 100 Backstroke both his Junior and Senior years). After high school, he received a scholarship to continue his swimming career with the Division I Eastern Illinois University Mens Swim Team. While there, he qualified for finals in the 200 Butterfly at the Summit League Conference Meet. Following that year, he moved back to Washington state to attended Eastern Washington University, studying Kinesiology.

He started his coaching career with the Spokane Waves Aquatic Team and then moved back to Tri-Cities where he coached with the Tri-City Channel Cats. He then got the opportunity to move to Austin, Texas to join Nitro Swimming, a large year-round competitive swim team. At Nitro, Ashton directly oversaw two of the training groups and assisted with five others. Coach Pollick then decided to return to the Tri-Cities in 2023, where he took over as the Head coach for the Southridge High School Girls Swim and Dive Team. That same year he joined the Hanford and Richland Boys Swim programs as an assistant coach. During his year with the Southridge Girls team, he was named the MCC Coach of the Year and had the honor of being able to name one of his senior athletes as Athlete of the Year. While coaching for Richland and Hanford Boys, Coach Pollick was able to assist one athlete to a 1st place state finish and multiple other athletes to state finals swims and huge personal best time achievements.

“My passion for swimming, and the great coaching I received throughout my own swimming career, created the desire to become a coach myself. In my time as a coach, I have had the opportunity to work with athletes of a wide range of skill levels and experience. Being able to watch as newer swimmers have that “aha” moment, when their stroke finally falls into place and watching more experienced athletes qualify for upper level meets… that is what makes me love being a coach more and more every day. Success looks different for everyone, but it is attainable for all. As a coach, my desire is to help each swimmer set and achieve their own personal goals (both in and out of the water), and become the athlete and person they want to be.” ~ Coach Ashton Pollick
